You can't do any harm by phoning them for an update, especially as the letters often take 10-14 days to be received, so a Decision may have been made while the "we have all the information,,," letter was making it's way to you.

I gave them a phone and they said I was only going to get the standard rate for mobility even though I can barely walk 20 yards without having to sit down because of the severe pain in legs a knees. They knew I was waiting on appointment with surgeon which I got last week and I now have to get 2 knee replacements the first one next month and the other one when they think I am ready the surgeon tells me it will be 12 to 24 months for recovery . The PIP people tell me I can phone them for a reconsideration what you think please.

Only you can make the decision whether to request an MR or not, there is Case Law that if you walk in severe pain then you should be counted as being unable to walk to a necessary standard, otherwise it will be the distance you can walk before the pain stops you from walking further.

What were you assessed as being able to walk?

Assessors are told that someone restricted to 20m or less would have problems moving around their house, is this the case and did you document it on your form?

Are there any things that you do that argue against the distance that you can walk, for example; how do you do your shopping?

, be aware that the DWP will expect a rapid recovery from your surgery

I told her I do my shopping late at night as it's quieter and always use a trolley for support she even had to help me to get up of chair and said no need to do the walking test as she can see I was struggling.so car has to go back but at least the door not shut in case the surgery don't work I can re apply I hope .still not got the letter yet to see the points I scored it will be interesting.i will speak with mobility to if they can help source a car or what help they can give.

This will have definitely disadvantaged you, even if you only do it infrequently, even the smaller convenience stores have aisles that are 10m or more in length and that is not taking into account your getting there and back.
