Hello, I went through the process of PIP from DLA. I was given the support allowance but my mobility was reduced and I lost my Motability car. In between times I was notified of your service and joined. I used your advice in my appeal which went in at the turn of this year, the reasons for losing my higher rate mobility were firstly that I drove a manual car and that meant I had upper body and limb strength. When I advised them I had not driven a manual car for five years they countered with a whole list of supposed abilities I would need to drive an automatic car. My appeal was based on two things, the fact I cannot walk more than two or three metres and that n automatic car took little or no strength to drive - the RAC acknowledges that automatic cars are easy to drive - I said I wanted to go to my appeal. Imagine my surprise on the 12th February when I received a letter from the Tribunal service to say my appeal had been reviewed and that y appeal was allowed. I had my full mobility allowance returned and it was given not just to 2019 but until November 2022 when I will be nearly 70. The sad thing is, I had to return my Motability car on January 4th - I only got a grant of around £200 as I have only been with them for just over two years. As I need a car to get around I had to use all my savings to get a second hand car, really annoying that if I'd been able to wait I could have stayed with Motability. The DWP seemed so determined that I was not going to get my enhanced mobility even though my needs were staring them in the face - what a waste of time and money both mine and the tax payers that the DWP appears focussed on not doing a proper job. They are supposed to be working for the benefit of us their customers and not be self serving, making things up and using misleading statements. No wonder the Tribunal service allowed my appeal after a review. Personally I'm disgusted with the DWP and I have kept my MP involved in my case and up dated him with my appeal result.

The thing is as well I lost my motability car ten months early, I have had to buy a second hand car and it's already cost me £300 for new tyres, I've lost time and most importantly money as I've had to shell out for a car unnecessarily. Ther must be a case for retaining Motability cars until the appeal process is done and there should be compensation for the time and extra expenses that I've been caused due to an incompetent system. I'm happy though that I won my case and think that the DWP is just going out of there way to be difficult. Parliament should hold the DWP to account as surely a 65% rate of appeals won must tell them their system is well and truly broken.
