A friend of mine has severely reduce limit as she has had two knee replacements and hip replacements (over 15yrs ago) Rheumatoid arthritis and Osteoarthritis. Also has had heart problems. Since changing from incapacity to esa she was put in the wrag group which she won and is now in the ESA support group. She recieves 105.80 a week, never gets heating allowance,, there is no add on's even though she is receiving High rate mobility and low rate care. She is 62 and terrified of all this benefit resuffle. But they are now saying she may be on the wrong benefit ie not contribution based income based. ?? Any advise really would be welcome. Was this one of the screw up the Gov admitted too but are not really being seen to do anything

It sounds as if she was not assessed for Income Related ESA when she was moved from IB to ESA.

The DWP have finally realised that a significant number of claimants should have been and are going back over these claims and contacting the claimant for more information. ESA(IR) is dependant on the claimants household income, savings and assets, and any hours that a partner works. See

Asset and savings rule for ESA(IR)

24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)

If she is eligible for ESA(IR) then it should mean an increase in her weekly payments and backdating of the money to when she was moved.
