We already provide support for what I will continue to call ESA under and with UC, so if you have questions about this then please ask them and we will do our best to help.

However, if you are looking for support on other areas of UC such as Housing Benefit or Tax Credits, etc. then I am afraid we do not support these and do not intend to.

Really ? as every county in the UK will be transferred onto universal credit in the next couple of years then I find this decision remarkable... You do know I presume that when moving from ESA to UC That the severe disable payment disappears ? this results in £115 less per month

With Universal Credit currently being rolled out over the UK I find that strange that you will not be covering this on this web site. We moved from Slough to Lowestoft in June 2017, both of us were claiming ESA (support group ), housing benefit, PIP and DLA.
Up here we had to apply for Universal Credit which includes housing benefit and the ESA was migrated although UC no longer includes the severe disabled element. This meant we were both down £115 per month. My partner was asked to go for an assessment for Universal Credit in February and yesterday received notice that he is no longer disabled as he was awarded 0 points, apparently 15 points are needed to receive the disabled element. He also was asked to move from DLA to PIP in November 2017 and was awarded the enhanced rate for mobility and standard rate for daily living. He is going to appeal to try and get the enhanced rate of daily living. As you can imagine this decision yesterday was a complete shock. We have already asked for a reconsideration. Within half an hour of receiving this notice on his Journal there was another entry made for him to attend the local job centre on Monday because he is deemed fit for work. I just felt your subscribers should be aware of how Universal Credit works and how it can ignore a fit note, which is now needed, if the issues are heightened or a different illness is stated. Surely that cannot be correct ?

As I said we will still be providing support for issues that are related to "ESA" under UC, but we do not currently and have never provided support for Housing Benefits, Tax Credits and the other benefits that come under the UC umbrella and do not intend to.

Yes I am aware that many of the ESA Premiums are not payable under UC.

So the assessment process and criteria for "ESA" under UC is no different from that for ESA not under UC. They aren't ignoring the Fit Note, for the purposes of Social Security benefits as he has been found Fit for Work, the Note no longer exempts him from seeking work and that is why he has been contacted.

If you have not already done so, request a copy of the assessment report, it will be a UC85 and can be requested by contacting the DWP office dealing with his claim, I'm not sure whether it can be requested via his Journal but it is worth checking.

To be found to have Limited Capability for Work then he needs to show that he meets very specific criteria, these are detailed in our ESA Claim guides.

If you have any specific questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
