I got a text this morning from DWP re a WCA next week. I haven't had anything by the normal post from them, yet they're letting me know the time and place of an appointment by text. I am physically not able to go to their suggested venue. I am registered sight impaired, I have severe walking difficulties. The person that assists me when I do venture out is not available at this time. The notice is too short, I had similar difficulties when I had my PIP. All the same hurdles, all the same challenges, Other than standing my ground on the phone when I plead for another date for an interview is there anything else I should know?
Maximus are only required to give claimants seven days written notice (including postage) of an assessment appointment.
So you can move the appointment once with no fault to you but must attend the new appointment or you risk your claim being closed. I would phone Maximus for a new date so that you can make sure it is mutually acceptable, you can usually book up to three weeks in advance so it might be worth your leaving it to closed to the date.
You have the option of pushing for a home assessment but you will need your GP to write to Maximus explaining why you cannot attend at their offices, there must be no suggestion in the letter that there is anyway that you can get there.
