PIP 1021 form for change of circumstances?

Hi just joined up today. So, hello everyone :) I won't bore you with my array of illness and disabilities because one of them is my left eye so long stints on the computer is getting tough. Anyway, about the end of Jan this year (after chickening out twice) I requested a change of circumstances. I know that my previous benefit is due to run out next year anyway so it was a double reason to do this. (Plus I also suffer from chronic severe panic syndrome and gad and sp) I got a form about 2nd Feb (PIP 1021) and they received it back on the 12th (with a lot of medical evidence - I even phoned and went through the list of things I would attach and it was whittled down to the obvious ones they would want to look at) I have been calling about every 2 days for a progress report (anxiety and impatience which causes more anxiety) and it has now gone to the people who decide I need a f2f or not. My Doctor wrote a letter saying IF it was needed, then she should have a home visit. So, now I have been told I have to wait up to 8 weeks to get a reply.... !!!! I'm in pieces here. 8 weeks? Is this the correct procedure for a change of circumstances? 2 Doctors letters, two Hospital Consultants letters, pictures of my oesophagus, ultrasound and another of my knackered left eye. I think it should change the name of the form to 'volume 1021' It was huge. Any kind of input would be great. Thanks for reading.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

The process for a Change of Circumstances is effectively the same as when you first applied for PIP, with the exception of your having to phone and complete a PIP1.

I think that the 8 weeks is a little long but you are certainly looing at 3-6 weeks for an assessment to be done and then another 2-4 weeks for a Decision to be made.

Is your GP letter unambiguous about you needing a home assessment? I am concerned that they say you should have one, this implies that there is an element of doubt as to whether it is needed.

If you have more questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Hi, thank you, Gordon, for helping me become incognito! I thought it was automatic but it wasn't! Well, as I have talked to many of the first tiers operators who usually give the information and have had a medley of answers from each one. Their moods also range but they all say basically what they see on screen. They have all said there was plenty of information I have supplied (everything they asked for) I was told it would take about 4 weeks to hear from them. They had all my paperwork on 12th February so that is now five and a half weeks. I believe my C of C is down to the people who decide if people need a face to face. If I do need a face to face, I will type out the very first paragraph she wrote verbatim.

"Nina has asked me to write to yourselves, in support of her application for PIP Change of Circumstances and to support her request to be assessed at home if a face-to-face assessment is deemed necessary." Not sure if that is unambiguous or not? She states at the end of the letter that if they need further information to contact her.

This was written on 8/2/18... 4 days before DWP received my forms and evidence on 12/2/18.

A few days ago, an operator looked at my claim and said that it is taking a bit too much time. Everyone I have spoken to, I apologise for ringing them most days and tell them I suffer really a lot with severe chronic anxiety and social phobia so she wrote a note on my computer notes to the next department to find out what was going on. The next time I called (today) I was put through to the assessor? I think? She mentioned that it has all gone to the assessors who will report back to her to make a decision and could take 8 weeks and a further 2-3 weeks after that. (whether a f 2 f is needed) I really don't know what to do or think but I'm tied in knots of worry. People say don't worry about it and just wait for between 4-8 weeks. Why am I writing this at 3 in the morning? Because I have been blessed with insomnia as well. I have told them that I will call every day because of my conditions, mental and physical. They said that's fine... not sure if everyone agrees though. Thanks for reading!

I'm afraid if this is what the GP has written then the I think it quite unlikely that you will get a home assessment.

Any letter from a GP that starts "... has asked me to..." is bad as the immediate implication is that the GP is simply relaying your words and is not documenting their opinions, you also haven't posted any reasons why they do not believe you can attend at their offices, if these start with "X tells me" then the letter is not going to help.

I think you need to speak to your GP about another letter.

Thanks for the reply. I'm wondering how else would both of my Doctors know that I needed support and evidence in the future for any Benefit crisis I would be faced with 1. For my ongoing mental and physical disabilities and 2. That I was changing circumstances to PIP and needed a support letter for that too. If they didn't say that I asked them to write the letters, they would be lying.
The Doctors at my Surgery are under so much pressure and stress with their massively inflated patient lists that I feel I'm lucky to have any letters at all. Plus they were free (unlike other Doctors Surgeries) But I take on board what you said and phoned the 'on call' Doctor of the day and told him that the wording in the letter may be questionable to Civil Servant but, he said...'it's there in black and white - she is supporting what I asked her to do."
I then called my local CAB for advice, but because I couldn't go in person, they had a small conference on my behalf as to the best solution. This was to contact my Local MP who, with written authorisation from me can act on my behalf. So, I shall be collating all the relevant paperwork and get my Husband to drop it off in the morning. I will also inform the DWP as to what they will be expecting in the post next week.

Me again... I did some more investigation and found out who would be doing the face 2 face. In my postcode area its Independent Assessment Services (delivered by Atos) <
??? Well, I just thought I'd give the number a quick ring and it was answered (they are open until 8pm!!) I told him my details which he had got up on his screen, he said that yes, he has me down as having a face 2 face and that it will be a home visit. That's great, isn't it? ... No, it isn't. I have been misled and told incorrect information in the past (one time I even had a letter of apology) so until I get an award letter in my hands (not sure what decade that would be in) I'm in the same situation really. So that's today's fun. I must try to calm down though. The anxiety starts taking over when upset or stressed. TY
