Pip withdrawal of ongoing claim was created by Red Peril
Hi. My done I'd on high lever care and mobility for pip. Recently he improved markedly so I called up the pip helpline to as them to just close down the case as I couldn't bear to put him through a face to face medical which would destroy him.
Are they likely to draw adverse inference for this? Would it have been better to go down the change of circumstances route? Hope you can advise as I'm worried what they might think

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Are you your son's DWP appointee, if you aren't then I would expect the DWP to reject your request to close his claim, only he can do this.

If you are then are you sure this is the best action? Will you/he be able to manage without the income?

The DWP won't read anything into a claim being closed.

Thanks for your reply. A friend told me DWP would think I was trying to hide something and woulD start an investigation. I've got nothing to hide but that really scared me- so you're definitely sure it won't cause me issues?
I suffer from extreme paranoia so things like this really cause me issues.
We can live without the money as the stress of pip is ruining my son as he feels people are spying on him and that he can't try new experiences as a result. I'd rather have his sanity than the money

Hi. Tried to reply but not sure if I did it right. Yes I'm my son's appointee and we can do without the money as it's harming him. He's paranoid about doing anything new in case he gets into trouble and worries that people are watching him all the time. It's no way for an 28 year old to live, hence the decision.
I suffer from an anxiety disorder with extreme paranoia hence my concern that DWP might think I was trying to mislead them or prevent them from seeing my son by cancelling the case. I was worried they might even suspect fraud of some sort as being the underlying reason for my closing the case. It sounds crazy as I called up and told them he had improved and could do more for himself now but if you are sure they won't read adverse inference into my actions? They told me on the phone that people barely ever close their cases and that's what kicked in the paranoia.

I can't see any reason why the DWP would think you were hiding something, I accept that it is not usual for someone to do this, but your reasons are perfectly understandable.

By the way I've emailed tech support about my name as the profile edit tab would not come up for me. So I'm hoping they will change that for me soon. Thanks for the advice there!
