Good evening gordon; I hope you are well. I have put in a man con after much deliberation. I was awarded standard on both components. On the mobility side I was given 10 points for unable to undertake any journey due to psychologicall distress; which I am content is the correct descriptor. I was given 2 points towards daily living for prompting to engage with other people. I requested the mr solely on this as I can't leave the house except for my son taking me to an essential doctors appointment by taxi. The assessor acknowledged my symptoms are chronic on the her report and that my son takes me to the doctors. So I guess what I am asking is, am I being reasonable to think I should of scored at least 4 points for this descriptor. Gordon I know I can't get out on my own but I'm concerned that I have misunderstood and the bar is set to high. Also how do they justify giving 2 points for prompting when they gave me 10 points for being unable to undertake any journey. Surely it's basic common sense I can't interact with anyone outside of my four family members if I can't get out due to severe mental health condition?. Jeez this pip can be so confusing. As always your advice is valued. Kind regards

Providing the reason that you cannot undertake any journey is due to Social Anxiety rather than Agoraphobia then I agree that it is reasonable for you to argue that this is relevant to your being able mix with other people.

As to your scoring higher, can you show that you meet the criteria, this is not just an issue of severity but you also need to meet specific criteria, so for the 4 points you need to show that you need "social support", can you do this?

To score higher your need to show overwhelming psychological distress or behaviour which would result in a substantial risk of harm to you or others, although the terms are the same as for the Going Out activity, the situation is not the same, rightly or wrongly it's reasonable to assume that the level of distress someone would experience outside would be higher than inside. so you need to bridge the gap.

Great advice indeed. Yes I have shown this in my medical documents they have. I phoned in the mr then phoned back to make sure it was logged correctly as the 1st advisor didn't seem interested in the slightest. Although the 2nd advisor was more professional. I will put the mr in writing asap also and let you know the outcome. Thank you as always
