ESA benefit amount changed was created by mariababy
I have been ill since 1984. I am in the support group. Recently I was receiving £197 ESA because I am classified as having a severe disability. But the DWP want to cut this to £127 citing the tax year of 1984/1985. I visited CAB, who telephoned the DWP and the DWP are saying that I can only get my original amount restored by claiming PIP. Is this correct? Thank You

It sounds as if you have lost the Severe Disability Premium, either your circumstances have changed of you are no longer receiving an enabling benefit.

Has someone started claiming Carers Allowance for you or has someone started living with you?

Were you receiving DLA and this has now stopped?

Something must have changed with your benefits to have resulted in the reduction, do you know what this was?
