PiP AR1 FORM SUBMISSION was created by sue1906
Hi,
DWP have just received my wife’s completed AR1 Forms. This is her first review under PiP. Her original PiP award was at the Standard Rate for both components. However we appealed the decision and went to a First Tier Tribunal where the panel awarded her enhanced rate in both components. The award was heavily based on a Neurological Report from her hospital and our oral evidence at the tribunal.

Does anyone have any experience of this situation and then having their first review. Just wondering if they will take note of the Tribunal notes we sent with the AR1. I find it quite frustrating that even though the Tribunal award was until February 2019 and also backdated that the DWP have sent the AR1 Form 12 months early! Especially when you phone them they advise that a decision takes no more than 12 weeks at present.

Any advice from people with experience of this would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

I'm afraid it is standard to reassess an award, one month in advance of it ending.

If an AR1 form has been sent then the result of her appeal should be considered then they look back at her PIP2, that said, results from reassessments using this form are quite variable and it may well depend on what was included on the form and how any face to face assessment goes.

Hi Gordon,
Thanks for your reply and advice once again.

On the AR1 form we pretty much ticked the No Change box but added pointers in each info box to remind them of her conditions. We felt the advice on the form of moving to the next question if you tick the No Change box was a bit of a possible trap, as you well know DWP can be very devious sometimes!

I think its in the hands of the case handler now and wait to see what happens. I will post an eventual outcome as I feel this will help others in the same boat. I just hope a face to face assessment isnt requested as the previous one was a complete joke.

Many thanks, Andy.

I went from DLA to PiP after a home assessment and the award doesn’t end until May 2019. My AR1 just arrived though, on the 6th April... I looked at my original award letter and they did indicate that they’d probably be in touch a year early.

I assume that if you make reference on the form to the tribunal notes and anything else attached that they’ll take it into account. The report I paid a Pain Consultant to write certainly resulted in a successful claim (and successful ill health retirement appeal)
I hate that I can no longer fill their forms in online, and used the idea of a forum member to type my replies and put a sticker on the form which said ‘please see attached answers’. I also included the report from the consultant and my repeat prescription forms. When the ATOS person arrived to assess me though all the DWP had sent her was a photocopy of my form, which of course had NO answers on it!? Luckily I had copies of everything by me (as I’d reread everything in prep for the home visit) and was able to give her copies. So, make an extra copy of everything, and ALWAYS keep EVERYTHING..

Apparently the AR1 was posted on 25th March, so I have until April 25th Shame their month to complete timetable doesn’t take into account how long it actually takes them to post the damn form out.

Hi Gordon,
I have noticed that several people on here have commented about DWP sending out PiP review questionnaires at least a year in advance. Apparently this is so they have enough time to complete the review before the current award expires. I would like you and the good people on this forum that when you phone PiP they state that the current processing times, including face-to-face assessments to receiving award notification is TWELVE WEEKS. I find this rather unfair for those who have 12 months left on their award. Especially when my wife had to go to a tribunal to get the award in the first place. Is this DWP pulling another fast one? Also like to point out that at present it is three weeks since they received the PiP AR1 forms and still no response.

I'm afraid this is DWP policy and the legislation allows them to do it.

We would expect a claimant to hear from the Assessment Provider in 3-6 weeks from returning the forms.
