Is this normal, and if so , will I be interrogated over the telephone ? It is just a matter of weeks before my last claim ends and this seems rushed. What information will I be expected to tell them over the 'phone? It does not sound as though they intend to send a claim form.
Whilst the majority of PIP claims are reassessed a year in advance of the claim ending, some claimants with short awards (less than two years), or sometime where the Decision was the result of an appeal hearing, then the claimant is asked to re-apply.
Basically the process will be exactly the same as when you first applied for PIP, you phone up to start the claim and then you will be sent a PIP2 to complete.

They've given you a standard 13 weeks, it should be possible to get a new Decision within this period, providing there are no delays in the process. As you would be making the claim before the end of your current one it will be taken as starting on the day after your current award ends, so if there is a break in payments then it should be minimal and covered by any new award.

The claim form asked if I would be bringing along a 'friend', to which I replied, 'yes' and it might be someone from the CAB. Could this be the reason we have a weekend appointment, so early in the day, I wonder ?
Is there anyone familiar with their Birkenhead venue ? Another reason I think there is a little spite on the part of DWP, as we are in Crosby on the other side of the river Mersey !

They are required to give claimants seven days written notice, however, this includes postage.
You can move the appointment once but then must attend the new or risk your claim being closed, so you could move it to a more suitable venue and time, if you do then make the new appointment while you are on the phone or you risk another difficult one being booked.
Don't read anything into the appointment being on a Saturday, some areas even work on Sundays.
