Transfer from DLA to PIP was created by Sick of it
I have been receiving the mail from you for some time, and it has opened my eyes to the problems claiments are facing from all parties party to the assessment process, and it did not make pleasent reading.
I am now a paid up member, and that is because I have recently received my notification that I will be assessed for transfer from DLA to PIP.
I have not worked since I had an industrial accident in the late eighties. I have been through all of the DWP processes since then,I have always satisfied the criteria for all of the benefits I have aplied for.
I was awarded the DLA at the high rate a long time ago, I have had about 7 vehicleds from Motability, I passed the criteria with my local council enabling me to receive the Blue Badge, and that has been for many years.

I have had many doctors and specialists treat me for various conditions which include my original injury, degenerative disease of the spine, arthritic psorisis, depression . and operations on my shoulders ,feet, and hands .

I was born in 1950 and just six months short of the non assesment year. I am retired due to my health problems, and all of this is on record with the DWP .

On contacting the DWP in relation to this change to PIP, I was given a date to go to a center for the assessment , I contacted the DWP to inform them that I would prefer the home visit as this is what I have received over the years. The person I spoke to cancelled the original appointment, and said I would receive a notification in relation to that.

On the day of this cancelled appointment I received a phone call from thie center where the appointment was cancelled ,and the caller stated that they were running an hour late so could I arrive an hour later.
I told the person that it had been cancelled ,but they stated that they could not find any record relating to a cancellation.

So it was back on to the DWP at Newcastle again. It was answered by a different person, and when given the details of the latest mistake, they said that they had no reccollection or file relating to to the person who I named or the cancellation.

So now after being given a second provisional date from the assessment center this DWP employee stated that they would now cancel the latest appointment, and I have heard nothing since.

I am going to build a data base in relation to my own problems be it health, what my claims over the years have been and accepted by the DWP which includes a lifetime award that they seem to be able to dismiss in an instant .

I am also getting together all the information in relation to all of the cars I have had through the motability scheme.
This would be the initial payments I have had to make for the vehicle I wanted, the total cost of the vehicle in payments to motability until it was handed back .

And then on top of that motability get the sale price of the vehicles when they are sold at auction houses.
It makes you wonder who is actually getting a better monetry deal, as most disabled people are just thankful for a scheme that gives them that freedom with the vehicle.

On a final note , I have recently had a heart bye pass procedure, but this does not seem to be a matter the staff at the DWP department at Newcastle are interested in when told about it. They seem to lack any form of compassion or humanity, all they go on about is if you are able no matter what you are suffering from to get to an assessment center, something I am unable to do,and something they want to dismiss.

The procedure I have recently had is a mjor surgical one,and the advice from the professionals who did that procedure was not to do anything more than rest and not to get
stressed in any way. Well this has gone out of the door with this change over being arranged by the DWP and implemented by the likes of ATOS who have been proven to be a most uncaring company.

At the moment I am in limbo , but I fear that after reading many articles on this issue that the DWP for what ever reason want to get claiments to attend an assessment center ,and take the mobility part of any award from them, even if that award was given for life.

This I find very stressful, and wonder if it would be the same for anyone who stated they would pay the government something for life, and then they changed their mind and said they would not.

I'm concerned that you say you have been contacting the DWP about your assessment, these are carried out by IAS (formerly known as ATOS) or Capita depending on your postcode.

If the initial appointment was at the Assessment Providers office then you will not get a home assessment without your GP writing to them stating unambiguously why you cannot attend at their offices.

Be aware, you must now attend any second appointment, failing to do so will almost certainly result in your claim being closed and your DLA four weeks later.

Thank you for your reply.
I have now got a home assessment visit after contacting the customer support service. It is now down to a wait and see situation. I will be asking the assessor what their position is within the health service and what hey do as a profession. That is because a person I have talked to was asessed by a paramedic . But when they got a copy of the report the asessor had basically lied and made statements in their report that were not true, they also suggested a re - assessment in the near future , and this goes against the information that was provided that made the future of the subject very unsure because of medical complications that are awaiting to be looked at by specialists.

I have also been in touch with motability to enquire about my account history with them. They have sent me a reply that states they are unable to provide the information as to a certain periods because the DWP are unable to produce them.
That to me is not very good for a company providing the service and the DWP who should have all records to hand to enable them to refer to when asking someone to do a re-assessment.
The cost of any vehicle is paid direct by the DWP to motability on behalf of a claimant, that cost is more often the full DLA allowence. On top of that some claiments choose to pay the adance payment for a more suitable model of a vehicle for whatever reason.
After three years that vehicle is exchanged for a new one.

The old vehicle is sold at auction, and I presume the money goes back in to motability's account.
Se in reality motability which I am informed is a government run company is getting a very good deal in revenue from the motability scheme. What are the thoughts of users on this issue?.
The one thing that also is not very fair with the motability scheme is the insurance which is provided by one company which is the RSA. I have had lots of problems with this company when making a claim, and that claim has been made when I do not consider myself to be at fault.
I think that a user of motability should be able to choose their own insurance company, especially when they have been happy with the one used prior to using a motability scheme vehicle.
