PIP Review and ESA? was created by rayisfun@hotmail.com
I sent back a PIP review form about six weeks ago. I said that nothing had changed regarding my illness. I've now received a work capability assessment form 8 months after my last WCA. I've still not heard back about the PIP review. Has the PIP review triggered another WCA possibly? Nothing has changed in the 8 months since the last WCA. I can only send them the same information again. I just can't cope with going through this process all over again.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas about why this has happened? As nothing had changed, I described how my illness effects me in the PIP review six weeks ago like I did in the WCA, 8 months ago. I followed the descriptors in the B&W PIP guide to explain how my illness affects me. I'm not sure where I've gone wrong.

Sorry I did reply but it looks like is did not submit properly.

The systems that issue assessment for ESA and PIP are completely separate from each other so I'm afraid it is just coincidence.

Be aware that there have been changes to the DWP guidance over the last year, so make sure that you confirm your answers are still relevant if you copy them from your previous form.

Thanks for your reply, Gordon. Where can I find information/guidance about these WCA changes? Has the B&W ESA guide been updated in the last eight months to cover them? I'm not sure which descriptors to review.

I was under the impression that there was some cross-over between a few of the PIP and ESA descriptors and that the decision makers sometimes cross-referenced assessment forms. If this is not the case then I can rule out any connection. But it does seem odd that I still haven't heard back about my PIP review six weeks ago and have just received a WCA, 8 months after the previous one.

The current ESA guides have all the changes to the guidance that have been made to date.

There are several areas of cross over but even where there are the criteria is still different. An ESA Decision Maker may use the assessment report from a PIP claim to help them make the Decision.

Could this work the other way round? The PIP decision maker using an ESA assessment report to make a decision.
