advice needed on PIP report please! was created by max7months
Hello, i have now received the ass report. Which does have many inaccuracies!
On her report it looks like she has scored me 4 points for daily living and non for mobility.
I have been on DLA for 6 years with an indefinite award.
I provided lots of hospital letters dating back to 1997-present (15) ish GP support letter etc
I telephoned to say the report was not correct, the first person said they'd put the notes on i explained.(i had a feeling the person couldn't be bothered to do it!)
I was right... i called back a couple of days later to find no notes had been put on the system for the decision maker!!!!! GREAT!! Only that i had rang to inform her i had received a copy of my report!
I explained again to the man on the telephone what i didn't agree with, he seemed more interested and hopefully logged it, this time!
I'm presuming the DM will go with what assessor has written and i will only get the 4 points!
I have had a letter on Friday to say they have all the evidence they need now.
My GP has written me another letter explaining the 3 descriptors where i scored 0 on
Now do i send this now?????
or wait until a decision letter arrives?????
My GP has now gone on maternity leave, so managed to get this evidence from her to use in my MR which looks like i'm going to have to do.
Not even sure this evidence would get there in time now or if it will even get looked at.
Any advice as to send now or wait please. As this is only really the extra evidence i'd be able to send with my MC as sent everything with claim form.
Thanks Butterfly

You can send the report but it is likely to take the best part of 10 days to get to the right department and may be too late to change the Decision, however, you have nothing lo lose by sending it, again make sure that you make it clear that you are not requesting an MR at this time.

Hello Butterfly
I would suggest that you send the evidence and as Gordon suggests that you make it clear in your letter that you wish to have this GP letter used as evidence towards your PIP claim and you are not requesting a MR at this time. Keep the original copy of your GP leter and send a copy to them. Also, I would suggest that you send it 1st class signed for, then you will be able to see when they have received it. Make sure you put your national insurance number and your name on all correspondence including the GP letter. Check royal mail online to see when they receive your letter, print this confirmation of receipt of delivery and keep for your information. When you know that they have received your letter, I would suggest that you phone them again, and ask them to put in the decision makers notes sections that additional evidence has now been received. Perhaps with some luck it may get to the decision maker on time, before their decision is made. It is taking about 4 weeks plus from when assesors report received until a decision is actually made by the decision maker in some cases. I am not saying this will work, but it is worth a try! But if not, as you say then MR. If you need to make a MR you can use the copy of the GP letter (it does not have to be the original). From experience some GP letters are not typed on headed paper, just on plain paper. If this is the case did your GP put their practice stamp logo on it, to show it is infact from them (the GP).
I am assuming that you kept a copy of your claim form and copies of all the reports that you sent them? As you will need these to refer to when making a MR if necessary.
Best wishes
P.S. If you post next day special delivery it will cost a lot more approx £6, but you have ful tracking history and it is guaranteed delivery the next day.

I hope this has been of some help to you!

Thank you both for the amazing & speedy information.
I will send it “special delivery” good idea :)
Which address would be best to send to?
The address on the letter, which says “we have all the evidence we need”
My GP letter is on the practice headed paper. Not stamped as such.
She has only pointed out the descriptors where I didn’t receive any recommendations from the assessor.
I’m presuming the DM goes mainly on the assessors report??
So In your experience do DM generally just score what assessors report says? Rather than trawl through our application forms/ hospital letters etc.

Yes, use the address on the "we have the info" letter.

DMs usually follow the assessors recommendation but some review all of the evidence and make their own decision.

Thank you. I have sent my GP letter by special delivery this morning.
Hopefully it will get to the right place & in time.
If not I have it for a MC which I’m glad about as my GP is off on her maternity leave & I wouldn’t of felt comfortable asking another GP at our practice.
Waiting game now! Thankyou :-)
