Hi.
I recently made a complaint/enquirey regarding a claim for possible ppi, from a long time ago when I had a mortgage. May or may not have ppi. I am in receipt of benefit esa, housing benefit and council tax and lower rate pip, I understand pip is not means tested, although the others are. I suffer with severe anxiety and I’m now concerned if there was a pay out how much it would involve me in informing the various benefits etc. I find it difficult to do, I’m kind of sorry I made the enquiry now, as I find it difficult to cope with changes to things so I think it could add to my illness.....much appreciate any guidance at all...

It depends on whether you ESA is Income Related in part or in whole, if it is then any PPI payment will be treated as savings, if this takes you above £6000 of savings and assets then you need to contact the DWP and your ESA will be reduced, whilst unlikely but for completeness, if it takes you above £16,000 then your ESA(IR) payments will stop. See

Asset and savings rule for ESA(IR)
