PIP Home Consultation Problem was created by cheekyankles
Hi Forum it is my first post so please go easy on me if this as been reported else where, I am writing this on behalf of a relative that is going through a stressful situation regarding the migration from DLA to PIP. What has happened is Capita arranged a home assessment for my relative yesterday 18th April in his Flat at 3.30pm, The assessor did not show up as arranged so my relative rang the Capita Customer number to log that the assessor didn't arrive on time at 3.50pm, the customer service operative told him that the assessors have 90 mintues to arrive after the appointment time, so basically the assessment could be carried out between 3.30pm to 5.00pm, (nowhere in legislation does it say the that the assessor has 90 minutes to arrive for the assessment) anyway the assessor didn't arrive as planned, so he called Capita again at 5.30pm after the so called 90 mintues for the assessor to arrive, Capita told him to call back today 19th April after 3.00pm, which was duly done as requested, what we found out was the assessor reported that they called and that my relative was not in for the assessment to be carried out, she described where he lived as a white block of flats, like most blocks in the area where he lives, so she could be describing any block of Flats anywhere in the local area, she also claimed that she telephoned on the landline which did not happen at all as all the incoming numbers on his line are logged automatically by the phone itself, plus he was in at the time with a support worker and the landline didn't ring once, but the strange thing is the assessor never even tried his mobile number which was also supplied on the benefit form, and the intercom security buzzer to the flats was never used to gain entry into the block, so it is has now become a he said she said situation, and we all know which side the DWP will agree with. It sounds like another drive by PIP assessment that Benefit and Works reported about a few weeks ago. I can not believe how Capita and the DWP are getting way with treating vulnerable disabled people like this..it is very sickening to the core. Just wondered if anyone else has suffered a similar situation Id like to know what the outcome was good or bad. I have already printed off the Mandatory Reconsideration advice form just in case of a highly likely negative outcome.

Have Capita said what they are going to do?

Was this a first appointment?

I know this was over a year ago but the situation was resolved as it was taken to tribunal, even before the tribunal was heard, the DWP reversed their decision as the tribunal contacted the DWP before hand to tell them they would lose the case and waste too much money trying to challenge it, the tribunal ripped strips off the DWP about their awful decision making and M.R procedures and money wasting bringing cases to tribunal knowing they will lose the case in the long run. My relative got enhanced/enhanced for their transfer to PIP until 2023, so a good result in the end for my relative, and not so good for the DWP wasting public money on something they probably knew they would lose.

Nice to see the Tribunal Service rebuking the DWP. Congratulations on the award.
