Wish I'd had F2F recorded! was created by Jacey62
I had the dreaded F2F yesterday. The Assessor was a horrible woman - insensitive and very patronising. I suffer with severe anxiety, amongst other things and she made me feel awful. I couldn't understand some things she was saying, and neither could my companion, when I asked her to repeat herself she was really abrupt and snapped at me quite a few times! I have had F2F assessments in the past , but this one was the worst experience I've had. She had no understanding of mental health or how to speak to someone with it! Her questions were very short and she did not want to know about things, which to me seemed important. She seemed to lose her temper when I was in a distressed state. I felt from the very beginning of interview that it wouldn't go well and I think she will make sure her report to DM see's me leaving the support group. I really wish I'd had the meeting recorded. I now have the stress of waiting for the brown envelope and I'm sure it will be bad news. If I have to request a Mandatory Reconsideration, a recording would have showed her bad attitude and what I had to go through. I don't even know her name! Every other Assessor that came into the waiting room to call their claimant was really nice and friendly. Mine walked in with a stern face and never cracked it once! I would highly recommend people get their F2F's recorded, otherwise it's their word against ours!

A bad assessment does doesn't always mean a bad Decision, so here's hoping.

You should be able to request a copy of the assessment report at the end of the week by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

A Decision should be 2-4 weeks.

Thanks Gordon,

I wish I could be optimistic, but just have a bad feeling about this one.

I'm a bit fearful asking for the report before I get the decision in the post, because if the report is bad I will be even more anxious waiting for the post each day, but thanks for the advice.

Kind regards
Jacey

I know it's stressful and worrying but the "decision maker" will usually be aware that you have requested a copy of the report, it's a good idea to cover all bases. If you need to have someone else store or read the report or just not open it prior to the decision letter, do whatever is best for you. Anxiety can be horrendous.
Use whatever you have in your toolbox to keep yourself as safe and well as you can be.

You are not alone

I feel very sorry for you and in hindsight you say you wish you had recorded it.
I hope others will learn by your mistake and record these heartless interrogations.

My DLA to PIP form has been sent off with reams and reams of evidence and proof of illnesses, deceases and disabilities but it will do no good and I will have a F2F.
I will be purchasing 2 S/H tape recorders from EBay so not to cost much.
I went along to a F2F as a chaperone and couldn't believe the attitude of the monster doing the interrogation.

One thing you must remember is this is nothing to do with health, disabilities and illness, it is a political move by headless tory politicians to claw money from people who cannot defend themselves.
