Dear Gorden Please can you advise me what to do.
My husband recently passed away leaving me on my own.
Therefore my financial situation has changed a lot.
I think I would now get an income based top up to my DLA.
Will the DWP know this as I have informed them of this or if not who should I tell and what should I say?
Thankyou Ellen

I terribly sorry to hear of your loss.

Are you still receiving ESA? Any increases would be paid as part of this. You will need to be financially assessed before payments can be made, contact the DWP office dealing with your ESA claim and ask for an ESA3 to be sent you. This is not an assessment of your claim, just whether you are eligible now for Income Related ESA.

Put your information into one of the online benefit calculators to see what you should be receiving now.

Thank you Gordon I have sorted that out now.
The problem I have now is I am worried about my private pension.
I am not getting any at the moment but I am unsure how it was worded on the EAS3 form.
Did it say I must tell them if I have one or will be getting soon. Or did it just ask if I have one.I know this may be silly of me but I worry and do not want to get in trouble for misleading them.
Please could you provide a link to this form for me as I am unable to find it.
Thank you
