psychological distres was created by kah22
My GF has applied for a MR. When she first sent in her claim we thought there wasn’t much sense spending time and effort on mobility as the government seemed to have stopped those with mental health gaining mobility. Now things seem different. We want to try and do some catch up during the MR
My GF is a practising Roman Catholic and as such wishes to attend her service on a Sunday. She lives alone and I’m not always available to accompany her. Often she will go on her own but quite often doesn’t make it because, we’ll in layman’s terms she can’t cope with the possibility of having to meet and speak to others at the service. Even when I’m with her she sometimes panics, gets up and leaves during the service.
Does that satisfy the psychological distres or would that type of behaviour have to occure on more than once a week. She has been in a state of bipolar depression for at least a year now
As always many thanks
Kevin

She may score but not based on the way that you describe her problems, the Going Out activity looks at three things.
Planning a route - this is primarily a cognitive or sensory (e.g. blindness) activity. You are being asked about the problems you would have with working out how to get from one place to another, you do not need to be able to follow the route that you are planning.
Undertaking a Journey - this is do with mental health issues such as agoraphobia and social anxiety and is concerned with you leaving the house to go somewhere, they will be interested in the things that stop you doing this. You need to show that you would suffer "overwhelming psychological distress" to meet the criteria.
Following a route - This activity about the problems you would have navigating a route. So are there problems cognitive, sensory or mental health issues that would prevent you from doing this? This is different from undertaking a journey, in fact if you cannot undertake a journey then you will struggle to score points for following one.
