I’m confused! I’ve been put in the WRAG ESA group and am about to go for reconsideration to go in the support group. I’m currently chasing DWP to process and back-date my ESA (IR) application as I’m still on contributions-based (had no idea I could have been on income-related all along). I have been awarded standard daily living PIP from Feb 2018, hence back-dating ESA (IR). I understand that I need to be on ithis to qualify for SDP. But what will happen if I win the reconsideration and am put in the support group, will they automatically put me back on contributions-based (I started on this in May 2017) and therefore will I lose the right to SDP?
You will always be paid your ESA(CB), any ESA(IR) you are entitled to will be paid as a top-up, being moved to the SG will actually increase any ESA(IR) that is payable.
