16 year old PIP and possible face 2 face

Hi everyone,
I am looking for some advice.
I have just completed the dreaded PIP form after my son turned 16 last month.
He has claimed DLA high care and low mobility since he was 8.
He is quite a complex young man with several diagnoses
ADHD, Tourette''s, Dyspraxia, asthma, social and communication difficulties, emotional and behavioural difficulties, Anxiety, Depression, sleeping disorder and sensory processing difficulties. He also suffers from anxiety attacks and has suicidal thoughts.
He suffers from many ASC traits and i am pretty sure he would warrant a diagnosis for ASC ( i have 2 other children who have ASC so i know the symptoms) but i feel that he has already been " labelled" so much in his life that at this moment i don't want to go into the whole ASC diagnostic path.

Now after this rant *sorry* my question is can they book in a face 2 face assesment while my son is in his GCSE exams?

A supporting letter from his psychiatrist says " a face 2 face assesment would be detrimental to his health, if a face to face was needed it should be done at home and after his exams".
I have also stated this in the Q15 extra info part and stated that his exams are from the 14th of May until 22 of June and that if a assesment is needed that it could be booked after this time, i have also sent them a copy of his exam timetable.

What do you think. Would they respect these times and if they book him in during his exams how do i go about changing it? I read that it can only be changed once.

Regards,
Samantha

His exams should be accepted as Good Cause for his not attending an assessment but you may need to manage the situation. I would hope that the Assessment Provider will pay attention to the dates you have included, however, it would not be unusual for their computer systems to issue an assessment for a conflicting date, if this happens contact the AP and insist that a new appointment be given at no fault to your son on the basis that you had previously notified them of dates that he would not be available.

I have only just sent off the form and added lots of info and his EHCP which states that A needs a 1:1 for 37.5hrs a week including lunch and break times, it also states in one of his long term outcomes that his independence sills are below age apropiate. This alone would show that A needs the enhanced rate of care, a psychiatrist report states that A is not independent and still relies on his family for his daily living, he requires supervision and reminding day and night in all his daily needs.
She further explains how he has been a danger in the kitchen leaving taps running, with kitchen equipment and with the stove.
I think A should also still be entilted to atleast standard mobility as his psychiatrist writes "A has great difficulties travelling independently, he needs to have supervision and guidance from another person to keep himself and others safe" and " due to his ADHD he also finds it extremely difficult to plan a route or to remember which bus stop to get off" and " A has experienced physicall and verbal abuse ib the past on public transport and while going out which leaves him vulnerable if travelling on his own"
My son uses the minibus to go to school and get back home provided by the local council.
Would you think this support alone would back up a claim to mobillity?
I have explained in greater detail his difficulties.
Do you think this type of supporting evidence ( there is more written in the letters but would take to long to type down) will mean he does not need a face 2 face? We had a dla renewal last year and he was awarded until 2019, we still had to change to pip.
Pip told me that they will be using the dla claim while ascessing his pip form.

Sorry for so many questions but this pip form could not have come in a more stressful time, my son is already extremely anxious about the exams and not knoeing which school he is going to next. I dont think he would cope with a face 2 face assesment

PIP has no general requirement for care so the statement that he needs 1:1 support is not going to directly result in points, although it may help with some of the specific activities.

The comments about his problems in the kitchen are good, were you able to include examples where these problems have actually happened, he can only score for activities that he cannot do not ones that he does not do, so you need to be careful that this is not the view taken by those assessing him.

It may seem like I am splitting hairs but the Mobility requirements are very precise and it is extremely easy to fall between the two requirements, not being able to go out and not being able to follow a route, especially as they are considered to mutually exclusive.

There's no recipe for a Paper Based Review, I'm afraid you will have to wait and see what happens.
