Too late for MR but need PIP more accurate was created by glassartist
Hello,
My parner Is Autistic and has a degenerating illness for which she had a brain operation many years ago. She had a PIP assessment at home a year ago, results received 13th May. Full rate of care and lower rate mobility. The assessment was of course very stressful as were the weeks preceding it. However, there were many omissions, downplaying of abilities and a downright lie where my partner apparently walks the (very large) dog down to the beach. My partner was content with the results, and was in no fit state for a MR at that time and wasn't aware that one could be submitted later, but is now afraid that these lies and omissions which were not amended will affect her next PIP review next year. Ridiculous forcing an old disabled person who is never going to improve, but will become worse to go through this again so soon. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you.

You can still request an MR if it is less than 13 months since the Decision was made, but only on the basis of how they were on the date of that Decision, not how they are now.

This is not an uncommon situation, you can correct the report on the new claim form that your partner will receive when their claim is reassessed, after all, you do say that their conditions are likely to have deteriorated since the last assessment.

Hello,
My partner has now been issued with a blue badge for her car by the Local Authority. We understand that she should now inform DWP of a change in circumstances, would this also be a chance to put right the ridiculous statement that she can walk a dog to the beach? Also to put right other lies and omissions in the PIP assessment last year, particularly in view of the possibility of "Unnecessary PIP Reviews To End", or would to do so be a double edged sword in that they might just bring forward the assessment due next March?

We also feel that she might have made an error in the completion of the form regarding traveling to unfamiliar places without assistance, she always needs this any very rarely goes to an unfamiliar place at all, but in writing treated the exercise as hypothetical, stating that if she was lost she might ask a police constable, this was translated by DWP into she would ask a stranger.
The ATOS assessor was not interested in whether a journey was unfamiliar or not.

Receiving a Blue Badge is not necessarily a Change of Circumstances, the criteria used by Local Authorities is more akin to the DLA rules and the distance used is typically around 50m, this would equate to an award of Standard Mobility for PIP, which your partner already has.

If you do report a Change then it will result in a full reassessment of her claim, a new PIP2 and almost certainly a face to face assessment, the new Decision, whatever it is, will superseded her existing award.
