Hi everyone
I sent my PIP Review Form in on 23rd April. When should I hear anything back? Also do I need to ring them at all? Thanks

It usually takes 3-6 weeks to here about an assessment.

If you know the Assessment Provider for your postcode then you can contact them for an update.

Hi there,

The DWP received my review form on the 26th of April together with lots of other supporting evidence.

Would this mean that the case manager has been unable to make a paper based decision and it has been sent to the assessment provider for them to take over the case?

Just wondered as I phoned the DWP a week ago and was told it was still at the first stage with a case manager.

It is extraordinarily rare for a DWP Decision/Claim Manager to make a decision on whether an assessment is required or not, normal practice is for the claimants file to be sent to the relevant Assessment Provider for them to decide whether an assessment is needed or not.

Thanks, Gordon.

It's just that I read in your relevant guide for PIP renewals that initially a DWP case manager is under prssure to save money by making a decision themselves to save money by not involving the assessment provider.

It's possible that they will make a Decision, we tend to only see negative results on the forum so it is difficult for us to get a reasonable perspective on how these processes work, my impression is that it is rare for the claimants file not to be passed, especially as the CM has no medical training and is being asked to evaluate what is fundamentally, medical information.
