P.I.P claim issues was created by Neil
Hi Folks

Im not at the point of receiving my mandatory reconsideration letter which as you can imagine is a refusal.

This process has been gut wrenching as i know i am entitled to something but getting across my daily issues is near impossible.

I have BI-Polar, Anxiety and currently/awaiting undiagnosed ADHD which is ironically the biggest issue of them all

I can hide away indoors for days/weeks through fear or simply not 'feeling right' i need someone to accompany me to anything new but i do go to my pshyciatrist appointments alone as i have no other option. this involves planning and funds for taxis and such and even though i can do it it is a massive drain on my mental health but this is simply brushed off as a minor inconvieniance.

Mixing with other people rarely happens yet according to them i just need a prompt. They said as i had a friend come to my assessment but not attend the interview this proves this. I did not want my friend to be there as it has nothing to do with them. They did me a favour coming to the venue and giving there time up. That is what i asked of them, why should i be expected to parade my issues to anyone other than a healthcare professional? I suffer from paranoia and anxiety and i know this person would not have remained a friend for long after if they had attended the interview as my though processes would have been massively confused.

Can someone please advise?

On the face of it there argument is not without weight, you did attend and were actually able to be with the assessor on your own.

However, the Mixing with Other People is about your socialising with others, so you can argue that the assessment was not a social meeting but one forced upon you as a requirement for your claiming PIP.

The PIP Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.

Once your appeal is accepted the DWP will prepare their submission to the hearing and send you a copy, whilst you should wait until you receive this to finish and submit your own, you should start to prepare your own case, an increased award will only be made by your showing that you score the extra points for one, so I would start by going back through your PIP2, the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to see how you might show this is the case.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
