PIP Evidence - less than 2 years old only!

I noticed on the PIP renewal form specimen that they are now only accepting medical evidence that is less than 2 years old. Why is this? How can they get away with this? Have they consulted on this decision?

It is my opinion that this is unreasonable and does not enable the claimant to provide a picture of longstanding, chronic, recurrent conditions etc. Is there any lobbying this website can do to challenge this?

I just wanted to raise this as in my initial claim I provided evidence much older than this to let DWP and their assessors know how longstanding and treatment resistance my problems are.i really didn’t know that they don’t accept evidence that they consider historic.

It appears from my original PIP assessment report that none of the evidence I provided that was more than 2 years old was mentioned in the evidence considered, even though in the initial PIP2 form it makes no mention that I can see that evidences needs to be this recent.

I just wanted to flag this up.

Ignore it, there is no reason why you cannot send in older evidence but you must explain why it is still relevant to your conditions as they are now. For example; if you suffer from a condition that can only get worse then older medical evidence puts a stake in the ground as to how you were and allows you to build on this to how you are now.

Thanks Gordon, this is sound advice I believe.

Further to this, it also states not to send them any evidence you have sent them in the past. Is it also advisable to send this again anyway? They are known for not keeping accurate records and saying forms/evidence are unavailable to them even though they have received them.

I also wonder whether, if the case does go to an appeal, whether it is advantageous to include historical evidence and evidence they already possess so that the tribunal panel can consider everything?

Thanks,

ka

I would send the evidence again. :)

You can send what you think is relevant to an appeal. The DWP will send a copy of all the documents used in the making of the Decisions.
