If you can afford it then I would always recommend returning claim forms by a Tracked post, if the form goes missing (and they do) then you have no proof that you returned it by the required date if it is not tracked, this could make the difference between your claim being closed and it being continued.
Although you can reclaim ESA immediately for a failure to return the form, it is not payable for six months or until you have attended an assessment.
