I'm still waiting to hear about ESA IR. I've had no response since I applied. They owe me backpay for a considerable period.

Regarding UC, I've been reading in the papers and elsewhere about some ppl's experiences regarding being moved onto UC. They have said that they had to reapply for some of their benefits, including PIP, when applying for UC. Is this the norm? Am I to expect this when I eventually get moved onto UC? I currently have a long award for PIP and am not thrilled with the prospect.

Thanks

Have you chased the DWP about the ESA(IR)?

Re the UC, yes and no. People moving to UC at the moment are doing so because they have had to make a new claim for one of the benefits that come under UC, for example Housing Benefit when moving to a new Local Authority. PIP does not come under UC.

Thanks Gordon.

No, I haven't chased them yet re: ESA IR. It will have been passed on to a different section, I reckon, due to the backpay I have asked for re: EDP. However, that should not preclude a more prompt payment for SDP. I am entitled since November. Nothing yet. Applied in March. 8 weeks ago. Will get in touch. Have been unwell.

Very relieved to hear about PIP being separate from UC. What about ESA? IIB? Are they part of UC? Sorry, I'd look but mental stamina low!

Cheers Gordon.

Haven't chased them yet. Will do. Any potential hold up re: EDP should not preclude a payment for SDP, which I'm owed from November. The backdating of the EDP may be holding up all payments.

Relieved to hear about PIP being separate. Find UC very confusing. Not on it yet. I receive other benefits that will mean I will be moved onto it-Housing Ben. ESA must be one of the ones that comes under UC? What about IIB?

Thanks Gordon :)

Nobody is being moved to UC at the moment although this will start at some time. UC covers means tested benefits such as ESA(IR), Housing Benefit and Tax Credits. IIDB is not included.

I finally got through to the DWP, after 55 minutes on hold, on my 3rd try, to be told my ESA 3 form has not been actioned. Nothing. Just sitting there collecting dust. She said she would get it actioned and that someone will call next week.

She also said, after all this, that if I qualify for ESA IR (which I do), that I then have to do an IS 10 form. I was talking to her for 15-20 minutes and my head was reeling from it.
She also said I don't seem to qualify for EDP, even though I've been told by others that I do. She said you have to be on Enhanced PIP care to get it. I don't recall that being the case. I'll look it up again.

I'm starting to wonder about going onto ESA IR, even though it means receiving the SDP, which is significant and will be used for a carer. I know it sounds silly, but sometimes when I've spoken to someone at the DWP, I begin to doubt what I'm doing. They don't seem to know what they are talking about at times and this makes me reconsider my position. Also, they seem to be saying that applying for ESA IR means you no longer receive the CB. But from your guides, it states that the EDP/SDP are essentially paid on top of the ESA. I was told that they (DWP) usually place the person on the one that they qualify for and would receive the better amount from. .... I had to giggle at that. Yes, from my experience, all the information is given to us to make an informed choice as to which one would mean more financial support. Not.
I've not looked at my PIP appeal, even though I know what I want to say. Don't know if I can go through with it. I have a long award length currently. I've not been well enough.

Cheers Gordon and to all peeps, enjoy the weekend.
Peace.
