PIP Appeal - update was created by AlineD
So, I have sent off my PIP appeal form requesting a tribunal. I have started going through the original report, referring to your helpful guides, and am finding that the assessor missed out quite a few things including my history of self-harm. I was awarded 0 points in all categories, which makes no sense to me, though at the assessment, because I felt overwhelmed and pressured, I said I had a bad day about once a fortnight, which really is not the case as my symptoms vary from day to day. Could that be why? I will be including this in my statement. Do you think a tribunal will consider the fact that I underestimated my "bad" days due to feeling overwhelmed at the assessment? Also, should I be sending in my statement and additional documentation contesting the original report once I receive a tribunal date or take them with me to the tribunal? Thank you!

Your papers need to be with the Tribunal Service no later than ten days before the hearing.

You will need to think about how to explain your bad days, you can't undo what you said but you can add context to your remarks, as you said , you were overwhelmed at the assessment.

Dealing with the errors and opinions in the report is important but don't lose track of the fact that the Tribunal panel will only make an award in your favour by your showing that you meet the criteria for one, so this must be your priority.

Thanks - that's good to remember. It's really unfortunate that I wasn't more prepared for the assessment but it is what is is...
