TOPIC: Pip appeal

Pip appeal 4 months 2 weeks ago #213188

Hi Gordon

I have looked at the Appeal form for Pip. I have looked over the assessors report and points. I have gone through why i think i should have scored higher for the daily living component. I got 6 points. I have also noted the components i got 0 points for and as an example depression i have been under my GP for 3 years and have prescribed medication. Other things the assessor discarded was in my daily diary which she took photocopied and assured me she would take into consideration. Is this how i should approach the appeal. Marie

How does your depression effect your ability to complete the PIP activities? This is what you need to expain.

It affects me in many ways. I no longer socialise with my friends or family and put them off if they suggest visiting. I no longer take care of my appearance I have no motivation some days to get out of bed. Is this what you mean Gordon that’s just a few ways in which depression affects me constant tiredness with no energy. Marie

Yes, these are the things you need to explain, you need to show that you meet the criteria for an award.

Ok thank you Gordon that’s what I am trying to do with the descriptors I received points for eg 2 points for using aides to bathe, getting dressed and undressed and cooking I cannot do these tasks without assistance from my partner and daughter these tasks cause severe distress due to severe breathlessness therefore without there assistance I couldn’t complete them myself. So I think I should have received higher points for these descriptors. What do you think. My consultant and gp have wrote letters to this affect.

Marie

What causes the breathlessness?
