Invited to claim PIP as my DLA is ending was created by GONZALO
I have received DLA since 1997 for an indefinite period. On my initial claim for PIP by phone I denied access to my original DLA report as it is over 20 years old with little relevance to my present condition. I said the ESA report after my face to face in June 2017 when I was again put in the support group would be more relevant. I was told they were not allowed to access my ESA report and that I would have to provide it myself. Is this correct?
a) Was it wrong to deny access to the DLA report, can I have the opportunity to change my decision ?
b)How can I get a copy of my ESA report from June 2017.
I was told I would be sent the PIP2 form within 2 weeks to complete, I was not told I would receive a copy of the initial claim to check, sign and return. Is this correct?
Thanks as always for your invaluable guides.

No it's not correct about your ESA report but this does not mean that they will use it, my recommendation would be for you to include it with your PIP2, understand that even where the activities overlaps, the criteria is still different so you will need to explain why the ESA report is relevant to your problems completing the PIP activities.
A. To be honest, if the report is 20 years old it is not going to be considered even if you argue that it is still representative of your problems.
B. Contact the DWP office dealing with your ESA claim.

Gordon, I hope you enjoyed your vacation! I submitted my PIP application as required by Friday the 29th June,
I have just received a date for a face to face on the 26th of July. The letter I received was dated 5th July. Is it normal that it is such a boomerang? I was totally traumatised by the process of confronting myself with my physical and mental disabilities. I thought there would be some healing time. Also my carer is not available. What should I do?

There aren't long wait times for PIP assessments so I am not surprised at the relatively quick appointment
You can move the appointment once but must attend the second one or you risk your claim being closed. If you do decide to move then make sure that you book the new one while you are on the phone to Maximus to ensure that is a suitable date and time.
