move from support group to wrag was created by Diane Annmarie
Hi everyone, new to this so here goes.
Ive been moved from support group to wrag recently although i now have more hospital appointments and another chronic illness to add to my medical history. Basically nothing has changed otherwise since i was in the SG. I still have the same conditions and sttending hospital and psychology appts. I just dont know what has gone wrong. At my assessment the health care practioner had even told me to go home and claim PIP !!
I have been in the SG for the last 3years and now have to attend work focussed interviews. Im in pain everyday with Arthritis and have mobility problems due to this.
Im in the process of appealing this decision as if anything my health has deteriorated. Can anyone shed any light on this as im reallly confused. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Do you know how you previously qualified for the Support Group?

There have been no changes to the ESA criteria but the DWP guidance has been modified and it could be this that has resulted in your move to the WRAG.

I can see that you are new to the forum, are you new to the site? I am wondering if your previous award was marginal and the assessor erred on your side and that they did not this time.

Hi Gordon

I got a letter back from DWP (which i had to request) laying out the descriptors and it explained that the Health Care Practioner had scored me 21 points but the DWP decided i could be moved to the WRAG.
Im in constant pain everyday and rely on my pain killers to help. My manual dexterity is poor and i walk with a stick. I dont know what previously qualified me for the SG as all my problems are the same plus i have another long term ailment.
Yeh im new to this site although i always read the free info via email.

Keeley.

The SG is not points based, you need to meet specific criteria for an award.

What did you score the 21 points for? It may indicate how you qualified before as some of the 15 point Descriptors are equivalent to the SG ones.

Hi Again

Yeh the points i got were on the following :

Cannot for the majority of time remain at a work station, either sitting or standing even in an adjustable chair or a combination of (1) & (2) for more than an hour, before needing to move away in order to avoid significant discomfort or exhaustion.---- 6 points.

Picking up and moving things: : Cannot pick up and move a one litre carton of liquid due to poor manual dexterity ---- 9 points.

All three of these activities have Descriptors that lead to an SG placement, so it's likely that you qualified previously through one of them. The criteria is in order of difficulty so your being moved out of the SG could just be a disagreement over the level of problems that you have.

For your MR I would look at the higher criteria for each of these activities to see if you can show that yo meet it, see our ESA Claim guides
