SSP/UNIVERSEL CREDIT was created by D
Hi
At the moment im receiving SSP while im off of work and im also claiming Universal credit and will soon be having my Work Capability Assessment. I know I wont go back to my previous Job as i suffer from mental Health problems and have been off work since February and that Job is too stressful anyway.
I know I'm entitled to SSP for 28 weeks but im thinking of just handing in my notice as i don't want the hassle of calling work every week updating them on my Health as thats the Procedure.
I would like to know if I leave this Job while still entitled to SSP, will this look bad to the Jobcenter and would it affect Universal credit in anyway especially with my WCA coming up soon.

I would strongly recommend that you get face to face advice before doing this, the CAB have experience in this area.

By resigning you may be giving up rights that you may later regret losing and you need to be aware that your UC can be sanctioned for leaving your job.

ok, Thanks very much for the advice. your really really amazing.

Also if found fit for work to do some type of work and not necessarily your previous Job as i think i read they could find you fit to do some type of work.
I mean how would this work. do you know. i mean could they say you could do part time work or work in a less stressful job. Would the claimant have any input in to this like to negotiate what kind of work you could do and maybe part time etc. Regardless if they find me fit or not it doesn't really matter cause i know i wont be able to work, i probably could do a few hours a week possibly. I mean surely they couldn't just find you fit for work and except you to work full time work because regardless what they say you know if you can work or not if that makes sense. Be interested to hear your views on this. Many thanks, D

You can negotiate with your JC+ advisor the type of work that you can do and the hours that you can manage, but it is a requirement of your receiving UC that you seek work if you are not found to have Limited Capability for Work and you can be sanctioned for failing to do this.

But this is all in the future and hopefully will never be a problem for you. Have a look at our ESA Claim guides to understand the criteria that you are being assessed against.
