Mandatory reconsideration deadline

Mandatory reconsideration deadline was created by Fiona H
Just today i received my decision letter after my f2f.
However, it has been sitting in my neighbours house for around 2 weeks. Rather than just post it thorugh my door right away she has waited until she actually seen me coming home to hand it to me. This has left me tih only a week until the deadline for a mandatory reconsideration.

So I called them today to ask for an MR and explained the issue of not receiving the letter.
I informed them that I would be doing this via written letter. The lady asked what my reasons for disagreeing were and I gave her some brief details but not much as I again told her I'd prefer to do it in writing but since the deadline was near I had called to start the process and in order to avoid missing my deadline but would send my reasons and further evidence in writing.
All she noted on my account was that I disagreed with the decision without asking for further information. She then explained that the decision would take up to 6 weeks. I specifically asked her when I needed to return my request in writing by to have it considered. She didn't specifically answer my request and instead said just send your extra information to us within the time it will take for us to make a decision (6 weeks) and that she had noted I'd be sending further evidence.
It sounds to me like she has put through a mandatory reconsideration request based on the fact that I simply said I disagree with the decision and Id be sending further information. In the meantime a decision will be made based simply on the fact that I disagree with the original decision. When I specifically asked for a deadline to return my request in writing she did not give me an answer. I asked if she had noted down that I would be sending an MR in writing and to allow time for this to arrive. Again she just repeated what she had noted on my account regarding that I disagreed and I'd send further evidence.
I have only 3 days left to write my letter for reconsideration and post it in time before the deadline. I am confused as to whether I have more time to send my request or if I am going to miss the deadline and be refused on that basis alone?

Send the MR request but include in it that you will be sending further information in support of your request and that you understand that you should be given four weeks from the date of your letter to do this.

In reality the four weeks includes postage time so you will actually have no more than three weeks.
