F2F Northern Ireland was created by Heartfelt
Hello, very informative site. I have received my form to change from DLA to PIP. It has taken me over a month to fill it in and I have 12 A4 pages of additional information with anecdotal notes. Letters with regards to my treatments from 2014 onward. I have Dilated Cardiomyopathy, Heart Failure, COPD and sleep apnoea. So quite a lot of information to give. What my question is I have heard that most of the f2f assessments are home visits here, could people please advise what their experience has been, is this the case. Thank you for all the advice I have received from your excellent guides.

Update

I returned my form by 18/06/18 as instructed. I have today received a letter advising me of a home visit for assessment on 11/07/2018
I telephoned them and advised that I will be taping the interview. The chap on the telephone seemed less than pleased. I informed him that I had 2 recording devices which would produce exact copies, he asked if they were cassettes, my response ‘yes as you do not allow any other medium’ I will have to sign a disclaimer which I won’t know what it says until the interviewer arrives.

HI Heartfelt, Good luck with your F2F on Wednesday! Please give me an update on how it went as I just received my letter this morning for a F2F later on this month and I'd like to know what to expect, beforehand. It's not that I have anything to hide, I'd rather not get tricked into anything as you hear about all the stories that go around about lies being told etc.

Hi Belfast Jack
A gentleman nurse visited me today he was on time. My husband went to the door, the fella was a nurse. He has worked for them for 18 months. He had no qualms at all about being recorded. To be honest the assessment was much easier than I had expected. He had read all the information I sent in. He also seemed to have an in-depth knowledge of my conditions and my problems breathing. He was friendly and seemed to listen. But hey ! who knows how it actually will turn out. He did not seem to be trying to catch me out, in fact he seemed genuinely interested. We will see when the actual award or lack of it turns up. I’ll keep you updated. I would recommend recording the assessment, if only if there is any discrepancies between what was said. So it’s not a he said she said situation. I got my recorders delivered to my door by Argos next day delivery. They worked fine. Good luck with your assessment. Let me know how it goes

Hi Heartfelt

I'm glad you feel it went well for you. I hope their decision reflects same too. I have my assessment on 20th of this month and if I'm honest I shouldn't have too much to worry about because my lifestyle says all it needs to. I have Multiple Myeloma which has caused all sorts of problems from fractured vertebrae to necrosis of one of my hips followed by peripheral neuropathy in both hands and feet. Couple that with severe arthritis in my neck and hips and basically I just need rubbed out and drawn again :(

Can you tell me the name of the recorders that you got because I would be interested in recording my assessment too?

Thanks in advance
Gerry

Hi Gerry

Sorry for the delay in replying had problems finding my post! It’s difficult on the iPhone
The recorders are the old shoebox style (you may not be old enough to remember these) made by Bush £24.99 if memory serves.
My thoughts go out to you, you sound like you have a tough time of it. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you on the 20th. Let me know how it goes.
All the best
Maxine
