Had my home assessment review was created by charchar12
To follow up on my home assessment on Thursday.
I felt really uneasy and uncomfortable with the way it went.
It was nothing like my first PIP assessment where she asked me about managing certain tasks of daily living.
This lady I seen was very money oriented, she was going on about the cost of paracetamol to the NHS, ( I don't have it on prescription a turned it down and bought it for this reason)
She was asking me how much my treatment costs to manage my reccuant Tumour that I see an oncologist for. How would I know? I said it's all that works to stabilise it unless they send me for proton beam which is very expensive.
She asked why the council haven't extended my house as the bathroom hasn't got down stairs shower only upstairs shower room. She at one point told me I'm lucky I'm not on a ventelator as it's £6000 a day? Like I have no idea what she was on about.
She also told me that my pain killers I have been on for years probably don't work well enough and I need to take anti sickness for post chemo sickness. And far as Sep are concerned I'm not complying as these would improve my symptoms. 1. I haven't been prescribed any anti sickness so I can't be incomplyant surely? 2. These painkillers make it bareable to get up and I am happy with them. Stronger painfillers are morphine and i have children I don't want to be sleeping all the time, I haven't been told I need new painkillers.
As she left she said, go gp get anti sickness and stronger painkillers and then I won't have such a low mood (I've been diagnosed with anxiety and depression)

I'm really confused because she didn't ask things that I felt important and I feel like she's telling me my Tumour pain can be cured. Like how does she know better than my macmillian nurse, oncologist, gp etc

What shall I do?

Thanks x

We very occasionally see this, I would put it down to a "little knowledge being a dangerous thing".

You can request a copy of the assessment report by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

A Decision should only be 2-4 weeks.
