Advice needed on whether to appeal PIP decision

I was awarded Standard Rate for Care and Enhanced Rate for Mobility, when I was transferred from DLA to PIP. I think I have a strong case for saying I should have Enhanced Rate for Care, as well. I've requested a Mandatory Reconsideration but I'm trying to work out what I should do, if this isn't successful.

The first question is how difficult, and stressful, an appeal is likely to be and whether this is something I can cope with. I had to go through a successful appeal for my DLA but this was over 15 years ago - has the process changed much in that time?

If I do decide to appeal, the next question is whether to do it myself (with the B&W guides to help) or whether I need to get someone, other than a friend, to help me with it. How necessary is it to have someone with legal training involved?

Any guidance will be gratefully received!

Some people find an appeal extremely stressful, especially with the long wait times that we are experiencing at the moment, others don't find it too difficult with the obvious exception of the actual hearing.

Most claimants are able to manage an appeal on their own but I would always advise members to try and get trained advice if they can.

Have a look at our appeal guides in the PIP area.
