I find it excruciating asking for help, but I really need to send a letter of support from my GP to help with my case. I don't know her that well, and I don't know what to ask for!
Is it just as simple asking for a letter of support? Or is there something else? I realise that I will have to pay for it.

Sj

I would ask your GP what support they are able to provide you? Ideally you want them to explain the problems that you have completing each of the ESA activities. This may be more than they are prepared or able to provide but you need to see how close you can get.

ESA:
Aargh I am in a bit of a pickle.
I have such a hard time speaking up for myself.
I went to the GP Today to ask for a letter of support re ESA. (They already have a copy of my PIP form scanned in because they had previously asked for it.)
Basically, I think I am going to get a letter of support that is going to be written according to my PiP form
Will I be able to use this for my ESA50? It is unlikely I will get the letter in time to send off with my form, how do you send in additional evidence later?

PIP:
I am still wondering about requesting an MR for PIP, I'm pretty upset with myself as if I had been confident enough to go to my Dr first I may have been given the high rate of care for PIP that I was expecting. I have 3 days left to send the letter, can you ask for MR and then cancel your request if you change your mind? I just don't know what to do as on re-reading the Assessor's report I feel the HP didn't give justification for his descriptor choice for the Mixing with People activity. My better half doesn't want me to do MR because of the effect it's all having on my health.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks so much.

ESA

It will depend on the letter, although there are areas of overlap between the two benefits many of the PIP activities are specific to the benefit and will not assist with an ESA claim, however, if you feel it will be of help then send it.

Send a copy to the same address as your ESA50 with a covering letter explaining what it is. I would also send a copy to the DWP office dealing with your claim marked for the attention of the Decision Maker.

Take a copy to any assessment that you might have and ask the assessor to read it before they start the interview and to include it in your file when they return it to the DWP.

PIP
I'm afraid this is a decision that only you can make, in theory it is possible to withdraw an MR but it may not be so easy in practice.

Thank you so much for all your help Gordon. :)

Considering my doctor hasn't done the letter yet and she's gone on holiday for a few days, I think I may finish up my ESA Form then send that in to the docs on Friday with a covering letter and hopefully she will read it and write the letter accordingly.

I'll post back an update of my experiences in case it helps anyone else. I've found it so helpful to be able to use the guides and read through the forum, I would have been totally lost without it.

Make sure that you don't delay sending your ESA50 back waiting for the report.
