PIP appeal postponed was created by Julie H
Hello All

After waiting many weeks for a date for my PIP hearing, I was given a date of 9th July. Today, I received a letter from the courts to inform me the hearing has been postponed due to the fact they cannot find enough people to make up the panel. To say I'm gutted is an understatement! I have now been waiting 29 weeks for my appeal hearing and 13 months from my initial claim. I am fast losing the will to keep going. The courts were unable to give me a new date so I'm back to square one. Has anyone been through this? I am trying to get some idea of how long this new date may be, weeks or months?
I have already emailed my MP who has been helping me but is there anything else I can do?
Many thanks

Unfortunately no, Tribunal panels are legally required to have the correct composition so if the Tribunal Service are having problems putting together a three person panel with the relevant training then you are stuck until they can.

Thank you Gordon. I have now, heard from my MP. He is very willing to ask the court for an urgent hearing but has asked for 'compelling reasons'. What would be the best way forward with this one? He knows that mentally I am at rock bottom with all of it. I don't want to say the wrong thing. Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.

Julie

The usual reasons for prioritising an appeal are extreme financial hardship or risk of harm to the claimant, in both cases you will need to provide relevant evidence to support your case.
