I'm in support group, review due oct 19, sorry for extra question.

Does the fact that I am on middle rate care DLA lifetiime award mean i could be eligible for inbome related ESA as well as my contributory?

thanks

There are two Premiums you might be eligible for

Enhanced Disability Premium about £16/week
Appears as Disability Income Guarantee on ESA payment letters

You or your partner must satisfy one of the following:
- be in the support group
- be under the qualifying age for pension credit and receiving the Higher Rate Care component of Disability Living Allowance or the Personal Independence Payments Enhanced Rate for Daily Living.

If you have a partner you will be paid the couple rate of this premium.

Severe Disability Premium about £60/week
You or your partner must satisfy all of the following:

- be receiving the Care component of Disability Living Allowance (middle or higher rate) or Personal Independance Payments Daily Living (either rate)
- live alone (there are exceptions to this rule)
- no one else must be getting carer's allowance for looking after you

There is a couple rate if both of you qualify.

The Premiums would be paid as an ESA(IR) top-up to your ESA(CB) but your pension will be deducted £ for £ from the ESA(IR) so it is unlikely you would be eligible but being entitled would reduce the amount being deducted from your ESA(CB).

Hi Gordon, I did not know this.
This has raised further panic as although I don't have savings over £6000 I did have savings over £6000 since 9.1.2014 the date on the letter, and I am worried I am going to get into trouble for not declaring them.
I did a post here benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?view=topic&d...=116011&limitstart=0
but it reassured me that as I was only receiving CB ESA I would not have to declare any savings over £6000.
Sorry, I have more questions,
1)Now that I have had savings over £6000 since 2014, will I get in to trouble for not declaring them?
I did not know about enhanced or severe disability premium and only got the DWP letter this week.
2)Will I get into trouble for not declaring the savings over £6000, bearing in mind that as I thought I didnt have to as I was only receiving contributions based ESA?
Many thanks

Hi Gordon please see my reply above also, I forgot to add something into my second questions.
Would the DWP only be interested in the fact that I don't have savings over £6000 now, or would they want to see bank statements going back to 2014, as they only wrote to me this week?
Thanks and sorry for two question posts in a row.

Chrissy

You are currently only receiving ESA(CB) so your savings are not a factor in whether you should receive the amount of benefit that you do, so there was and is no requirement for you to tell the DWP that your savings exceed £6000.

If you ask the DWP to assess whether you would have been eligible for ESA(IR) then your savings will be a factor and you will have to provide information about them, they will tell you what if any information they require and for what period.
