Hi Gordon,

Some news already - I got two text messages this morning from IAS. (Atos). Just called, they only meant to send one, the other was sent in error. It's for an assessment for PIP. I am booked in for next Friday. I looked up beforehand where my nearest assessment centre is, it's a bit of a way from public transport, so I mentioned I would be getting a taxi. The woman I spoke to asked why and I explained I have mobility problems, I don't want to get stuck on the way and not get there, so she authorised a taxi for me, I just need to remember to get the expenses form on the day.

So now, what do I do? I saw in the long guide about medical assessments. Is there anything else I should look at to prepare?

I'm having a panic attack already. I'm having that blind panic feeling and my heart's racing, so I've probably forgotten to mention something.

Thanks

RR

The PIP Claim guide has sections covering the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.

Can anybody go with you?

Would your GP write to IAS explaining why you need a home assessment or better still, why an assessment should be done on the papers they have?

Oh. bad news. My GP said no. She said 'she is not able to contact ATOS medical assessment herself. She would encourage me to attend. She knows my difficulty on the day but delaying the assessment will cause me more stress. If I am not able to attend on the day I need to contact them and they will get back to her about home assessment'
