Backdated pip for epilepsy was created by Tracy
I have been getting pip standard daily living and mobility for 3 years , I have uncontrolled epilepsy and have seizures every day, I had an assessment in November 2017 and was awarded enhanced mobility and no daily living ( I got 7 points instead of the 8 points I'd had before ) , I have appealed against the 1 point for taking medication and therapy because my daughter has to give me my medication or I would forget , I can't understand why they have dropped the one point when nothing has changed and because I don't get daily living components I don't get the disability premiums with my ESA, do you think I am owed any back pay from pip because of the law change for mobility ? Should I have been getting enhanced mobility all along ? I am so confused about it all and I apologize if I'm not making much sense my mind gets scrambled sometimes .

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I'm afraid it's impossible to say whether your award will be revised by the DWP as they go through previous claims in light of the changes to the Mobility Descriptors, you don't explain what your problems with Going Out are!

Thank you for replying, I don't go out on my own ever because my seizures cause me so much distress I only go out if absolutely necessary and my daughter has to be with me , I have had seizures in the street and my belongings were stolen whilst I was on the floor , since then I can't go out I suffer panic attacks if I even think about going anywhere .

If you don't go out then you were not effected by the changes that the Government made to the Mobility Descriptors as those relevant to Undertaking A Journey were not changed.

I'm sorry I don't understand, after my assessment in November my mobility component was changed from standard to enhanced but my standard daily living was dropped down from 8 points to 7 points , they took 1 point off for taking medication and therapy even though nothing changed, do you think I should appeal or just drop it.

I can only reply based on the information that you post, so you say that you don't leave your home on your own.

"I don't go out on my own ever"

the relevant PIP phraseology is "undertaking a journey".

There are two Descriptors in the Going Out activity that deal with undertaking a journey; (b) and (e). Neither of these was changed when the Government changed the Descriptors, so there is no reason why the DWP would be reviewing your award if this is your problem.

I can't tell you whether to appeal the Daily Living award or not, this is a decision that only you can make.

Again from your post you are challenging one Descriptor only and what I would call a low level one at that. You have nothing to lose by making the appeal but you need to think carefully about explaining your problems with managing your medication as you have not convinced the assessor or DM that you have problems.
