PIP Assessment was created by Deena Bee
Hi I have with your help in the past managed to appeal against PIP decisions and achieve full PIP so firstly many thanks for all of that. Much appreciated this amazing resource. I also managed to avoid having face to face assessment using your advice due to my complex mental health issues. That however was five years ago and my PIP is now up for renewal. My husband is my carer and he returned the renewal form for PIP no changes in a timely fashion. My mental state at the moment is especially fragile due to other stresses. Last week for example I couldn't cope with the pressure of a situation we were discussing and had to escape it by wandering off despite having no money, phone, keys, appropriate shoes or clothes etc and he needed to call the police as I posed a risk to self and others,. Fast forward to this week (there have been other incidents in the last week due to huge life stresses sparking my diagnosed mental health conditions to self harm/suicidal ideloogies/threats to others both people and animals, and on top of all this (I have been getting through with help of husband taking time off work, he is a mental health nurse) and sedating medication. On top of all this, the post brings today something which is pushing me over the edge even more. An out of the blue demand that I attend an assessment for PIP very soon, 25 July in fact. Even the fact that they are contacting me to demand this given that they have all the information about me not being able to safely cope with the threat hanging over me of an assessment; at home or elsehwhere, let alone at such ridiculously short notice, is horrendous and making me feel desperate. What do I do ? Presumably respond or have my husband respond in writing asap? Thanks in advance.

An assessment is required when the assessor is unable to make a recommendation to the DWP based on the evidence available to them.
A Paper Baser Review will only be done if there is sufficient evidence to allow it or there is significant risk to the claimants health if a face to face is done, in the case of the latter you will need to support your problems with up to date evidence.
Have you spoken to your GP about the problems that you are experiencing at the moment, would they be willing to write a letter detailing your problems and attributing them to them to the assessment process.
