PIP Assessment was created by Pallawan
Hi there
I’m new here and this is my first time posting, so hope I’ve posted in correct place.
Ive had my f2f assessment for change over from DLA to PIP. I was grateful that they agreed to a home assessment as I’ve had an 11 level spinal fusion and unable to walk more than a couple of steps at the moment. However, the assessor wasn’t very understanding and didn’t give me a chance to explain anything so I don’t think it’s gone very well. Obviously if I lose I will appeal but my question is do I lose all benefits. At the moment I get DLA, ESA (support group) and my husband is my Carer so gets carers allowance and income support. Will we be entitled to any money if I lose PIP as I know it can take 12-18 months to get to tribunal and benefits are our only source of income since my illness.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

You can get ahead of the Decision by requesting a copy of the assessment report, contact the DWP office dealing with your claim.

What you would be entitled to after the Decision will I'm afraid depend on what that Decision is so it's somewhat difficult to answer your question but I will do my best.

Your ESA will not be effected, the criteria is considered to be too different from PIP for there to be any knock on.

Your husbands Income Support claim is tied to his Carers Allowance and the CA is dependant on your receiving an award of PIP Daily Living, so if you don't receive this then then the other benefits will cease as well, however, I would expect you to be able to claim an income Related top-up to your ESA which recover some of the money.

You can get a better idea of your options by using one of the online benefit calculators

Thank you Gordon
Yes I requested the assessors report which I received and adding the points up I have scored 15 for Daily Living and 12 for Mobility so looks like I’ve got enhanced for both. However, that’s only the report , I still have to wait for the decision. Turns out the assessor wasn’t so bad after all as it was a truthful report.
One more question please,
I’m on contribution ESA and have been since 2012 as I’m in the support group. We get the extra disability premiums and carers premium added to the income support. Can I ask what’s the difference between being paid benefits like we’re on, ESA, PIP (hopefully), carers allowance, income support........ compared to ESA IR with the disability premiums. Etc...... would the money still work out the same?

It would be unusual for the DWP not to follow the recommendation of the assessor.

Put your information into one of the online benefit calculators, you should be able to model your current income support claim and one based on your ESA.
