PIP CHANGE OF CIRCUMSTANCES was created by Jimmy
Dear Gordon,
My Wife was born with a muscle wasting disease "Central Core Disease" It is a disease similar to muscular atrophy and her condition will never improve, only worsen.
Unfortunately she has very little in medical back up as seeing Doctors is of no use.
Some two years ago my Wife went from middle rate care DLA and High rate Motabilty, to the new PIP Enhanced care allowance 16 points and only Standard moving around = 10 points.
Since her assessment her walking distance has worsened and she is frightened to go out of the house because of falling and severe panic attacks and mental stress.
She is terrified of going through another face to face assessment because of how they made her feel, it was a French lady who wrote down answers from off the wall. She came home very upset and frightened.
I would like very much to help her enter a change of circumstances but I am unsure how to go about this and I am hoping you can advise me with what what forms I need and what help is available on here.
Kindest regards Jim.

First of all, if her walking that has deteriorated then you are going to have to show that she cannot "reliably" walk more than 20m on the "majority of days to meet the criteria for a higher Mobility award.

Can you do this? Especially as you say you have no medical evidence to support the change.

She may also be able to score for Going Out but with no formal diagnosis and no treatment for her problems, I think you will struggle to score.

You can report a change by writing to the DWP office dealing with her claim if you can send it using a Tracked post so that you have proof of delivery, explain how her conditions have worsened and ask for her claim to be reassessed.

Be aware that doing this will result in a new PIP2 being issued and I think it very likely that a face to face assessment will be required, the new Decision that will result will supersede her current award, whatever it is.

Hello Gordon,
Thankyou for your help. Think I asked these questions before, (sorry i forgot) my Wife was very upset with her first assessment as I presume most people are, and it is very hard to try put her through all that sadness again. This P I P system is bad, my Wife definitely meets all the health problems for full help, but whether she can build up enough strength to go for a face to face is doubtful, I can only keep trying to reassure her. Should not be like this, my Wife is disabled from birth, and they want her to perform like some circus clown. Once again Gordon, Thankyou for your good advice.
Regards Jim.
