Cancelling appointment was created by Jendifleur
Hi,
My husband's assessment was cancelled with 12 hours notice by ATOS as the healthcare professional knew us...no idea how. Anyway, they sent another appointment out and I can't be with him on that date for various reasons. They have told us they cannot reschedule at all ever as it has already been rescheduled...even though they cancelled it not us! It is stressing my poor husband and I can't see how it can be correct. Essentially, we have no right to change our appointment because of their decision. when i said I was not happy, they said in effect, his claim could be rejected. Any suggestions?

Providing you have not moved a previous appointment you should be entitled to move the appointment to one that is convenient to you, their cancelling the appointment should not count against you.

Contact them and if you get the same excuse then ask for the matter to be escalated to a manager.

Hi,
Thank you so much for your advice. I called again and spoke to a different person who was much nicer and sorted it all out in a matter of 10 minutes. I have asked for a complaint form and also a reason in writing why the first appointment was cancelled. As you rightly said, they should not have been so obstructive and frankly obtuse during my last call. I had every right to ask them to reschedule, despite the first call handler's insistence I did not. It just goes to show how blatantly unprofessional some of the call handlers are and how much unnecessary upset they cause as a result.
Thank you so much for your help.
Kind Regards,
Jenny

I'm afraid you won't get a home assessment without the support of your GP, you need them to write to the Assessment Provider explaining in unambiguous terms why you cannot attend at their offices.

You can move the appointment once but must attend the next one or you risk your claim being closed.
