Had my decision following review! was created by charchar12
After a nervous waiting of over 10 weeks I finally had my decision letter!
I was awarded the same as previous - standard care and standard mobility.
Whilst I am so glad I didn't get refused. (The f2f was horrendus with a very unfriendly lady doing it.) no physical just a lot of talk
I am feeling a bit unsure about a MR - my condition as got worse since the last time. (2.5 years ago )
I am on a chemo drug for another reaccurance and have had a side effects, damage to hip and reduced mobility and pain following reccurant surgeries and I just fell down the stairs due to limitations and left me even more limited. I felt i would be entitled to more points than last. Had 10 points then and again now.
I have support letters and I would like to know thoughts of a MR - I certainly don't want to lose any entitlement but that's the scare they put you in as well.
I received 0 points for planning and following a journey and have had major depression in last 18 months so this has really effected my ability to mix with others and want to go anywhere.
Any advice would be appreciated on a MR - how to go about one the right way and is there a high chance of coming out worse.
Sorry for the long post I have been so worried had panic attacks and loss of sleep over this xx

Your conditions worsening does not always mean that you will score additional points and even if you do, you may still not score sufficiently for a higher award, so if you are contemplating an MR you need to first establish whether you would reasonably meet the criteria for an Enhanced award.
I would go back through your last claim form and the PIP Claim guide to make sure you have shown that you meet the legally defined Descriptors, have you made appropriate use of the reliability criteria and do you have your problems on the majority of days?
You say that you have major depression and that you don't want to go anywhere, the legal test is that you cannot go anywhere, this may seem the same but it is not. Also, the reason that you cannot undertake a journey must be because doing so would cause you "overwhelming psychological distress", can you show this based on your evidence?
Don't forget that any change to your limitations must have been present for three months and must be reasonably likely to last a further nine months.
The first stage to challenging a Decision is for you to request a Mandatory Reconsideration, this needs to be done in writing to the DWP, within one month of the Decision, to the office that dealt with your claim, have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process, the PIP area also has template letters that you can use to make the request with.
