I realise I am eligible for contribution based ESA from my work in the previous tax year This tax year I am approaching the 26 weeks work and the lower earnings limit. With this in mind I realise that April 2019 is still far away. Is this when I am able to call the DWP to start a new claim? or will it be January 2020?
Separately thanks for the guides which helped me in the PIP assessment which helped me greatly in the award of HIgher rate care and mobility.
For a claim of ESA(CB) made this calendar year the DWP will use the Tax Years 2015-16 and 2016-17 NI Contributions being earned now (2018-19) will not be usable until 2020.

ok thanks, I hoped to make a claim in 2020 as in the 2015-16 I did not earn enough money to be above the lower earnings threshold. The previous tax year I am well qualified and am on track based on this tax years work.
