HOME VISIT/CENTRE VISIT was created by Tommyjocck
Has any members experienced having a home visit for PIP and having to go to an assessment centre for ESA? I requested a home visit for PIP and ESA but they seem fit to ignore my request for the ESA home visit. This is the second assessment for ESA as the first one was abandoned due to my brother having an Angina attack requiring him to take an inhaler to help himself. This was at the assessment centre in Glasgow. Now they, [Independent Assessment Services] have now sent a letter inviting my brother to attend their new assessment centre in Glasgow for a F2F. I have written to them requesting a home visit for ESA as I can't understand why they can do a home visit for PIP but not ESA. I also notice that the DWP have rented their new assessment centre in 1 Atlantic Quay, Glasgow for 15 yrs yet they have an assessment centre just five minutes up the road. This another utter waste of taxpayers money. Now we know where the savings are going by not giving the sick and disabled people benefits as they need cash for plush new offices for their staff.

You will need to get a letter from your brother's GP, they are very unlikely to accept your testimony that he needs a home assessment. The GP needs to write an unambiguous letter explaining why he cannot attend at the Assessment Providers offices.

Gordon, Sorry for the delay in replying to your answer. I now have a GP's letter giving him the support for a domiciliary visit by an assessor as my brother has physical and mental health disabilities that would have freaked him out completely. He suffers from a condition called KlineFelter Syndrome and he simply could not fill in their forms nor can he fully communicate with the questioning of the assessors/s. He has been on benefits a long time but no doubt in the eyes of the DWP and assessment companies he must be able to do something. I can honestly say that he could NOT hold down a job because of his mental health and learning difficulties. Thanks again for your help.
