ESA was created by Julie H
Hello all. After the battle to get PIP and everything else they put us through, I now have a new battle. I'm currently on contribution based ESA which is ending in November. I was placed in support group by UC assessment, because of this my ESA will not continue to be paid by ESA. That's what ESA say. Meanwhile UC are adamant it should be paid, certainly to the point of reassessment , by ESA. I am going back and forward between the two getting nowhere fast! All I can see is that come November I shall be £146 short every two weeks. There is also a question of what used to be SDP as I meet the criteria for this as well. ESA at Chippenham has just informed me I should be getting a disability element. Can anyone please advise what should be happening as I really don't know.! Thank you.

From your previous posts, you are receiving New Style ESA and also Universal Credit, when you posted you were in the Support Group.

If you are still in the SG why do you think that your ESA is ending in November?

Universal Credit does not currently support the payment of the SD Premium, there are changes planned that should allow some sort of payment but the situation is unlikely to be resolved for at least a couple of months.

Hello Gordon, I have had numerous conversations with ESA, even being escalated to higher manager. They are adamant that my ESA will cease in November as, although in support group, it was done through UC. Therefore it is down to UC to pick up my ESA payment. I was definitely placed in support group for 18 months which takes me to April next year. I have been messaging UC through my journal since 24th August but they are not replying. I now have it in writing from ESA my payment will not continue after November (365 days). I don't know who else to ask!

You keep referring to your ESA(CB) payments stopping after 365 days, there is only one reason why this would happen and this is that you are in the WRAG or LCW group and you are not in the Support Group.

Based on the outcome of your assessment, the questionnaire you completed and any further information you provided, we have decided that you have limited capability for work and limited capability for work-related activity.
This means that you are not required to look for work or take any steps to prepare for work.

This is from my letter I received about my work capability assessment. UC told me it was support group. Are they wrong? Which group am I in.? I am getting extremely confused by it all.

The letter says you are in the SG so we are back to square one, there is no reason why your ESA(CB) will stop in November.

ESA is an indefinite award, the only reason that an award of the SG will stop is because a new Decision has been made removing that SG award.

Have the ESA people offered any reason why your ESA(CB) would stop in November?
