Waiting for PIP decision ~ How long?? was created by Andyb53
Hi All.
I have had DLA (enhanced mobility) for 8 years and never had any medical. I was invited to apply for PIP in May and had my "face to face" 3 weeks ago. It seemed to go very well and the Assessor told me she would submit her report to the DWP on the same day. When I asked her about my assessment she said she thought.... "i would have nothing to worry about" My questions are...
1) How long do you normally wait for a DWP decision?
2) If I lost the Enhanced rate and made a Mandatory reconsideration would I still get DLA whist waiting?
3) Whilst waiting for a "Mandatory reconsideration would I still keep my Motability vehicle?
Thank you in advance
Here keep finger crossed!!

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

1. Decisions normally take204 weeks 2-4 weeks but there appears to have been a slow down due to staff taking their Summer holidays and it could be as long as 10 weeks from the date of the assessment.
2. No, you DLA is only payable for a further four weeks after the Decision on your PIP claim is made. Any PIP award you do receive would be payable during any MR and Appeal. If you are in Northern Ireland then there is a compensation scheme but not in the UK mainland.
3. You will need to speak to Motability, they have options that would allow you to retain the vehicle for up to 26 weeks after an adverse Decision when transferring from DLA to PIP.
